Aston on Trent War Memorial Hall, Corner of Chellaston Lane and Weston Road, Aston on Trent
Aston on Trent Memorial Hall.jpg

The hall was built in 1924 to commemorate those from Aston and Weston who gave their lives during the war. It was later rededicated to also include those who died in the Second World War.
It was renovated and extended in 2006 and the Royal British Legion produced a dedication roll of honour which was placed in the entrance hall of the new-look building and a new wall plaque was installed on the outside of the hall.

Errors on the new Roll of Honour:

My research on the men commemorated on the Aston on Trent memorials has established that the details given for two of the men on the new Roll of Honour are incorrect.

Albert Edward Hackett - the details recorded above relate to A E Hackett, who was born in Longdon, Staffs and enlisted in Lichfield, Staffs. Whereas Albert Edward Hackett was born in Aston on Trent, resided in Aston on Trent and is the brother of Frederick Hackett, Henry Hackett and William Hackett.

Arthur Shreeve - the details recorded above relate to Alfred Shreeve, who was born in East Dereham, Norfolk and enlisted in Newcastle on Tyne. Whereas Arthur Shreeve was born in Aston on Trent and resided in Aston on Trent.
